During the weeks of April 3rd - April 14th and the week of April 24th - April 28th students at MtVES read nonfiction books about animals that live on the land, in the sea, or spend time in the air. Each child selected an animal of their choice to learn about and created posters to share interesting facts and information and hung them in the hallways. Their poster was also their “ticket” to be entered to win a bike from the local Masons’ Bikes for Books program. Individual classrooms in grades PreK-5 also choose an animal to study and learn about and decorate their doors to match. On Friday, April 28th we met as a whole school so each class could share their learning. On two separate afternoons the entire school participated in MtVES Reads Together from 2:00-2:20. The children spread out in the hallways and were paired up with a student in another grade to read. We had a great time learning together as an entire school community!
