RSU 38 ELEMENTARY SCHOOL VOLUNTEER SERVICES
… providing a bridge for community to support education in the Maranacook Area Schools

To: All Community Members

This is an invitation to be an Elementary School Volunteer during the school year 2011 - 2012.

What is the volunteer program? It is an opportunity to support and be involved in your child's education. It is an opportunity for community members to work under the direction of the school staff to enrich the learning environment, expand the resources of the school, and provide the teacher with more time to teach. Our goal is to help provide the best education possible for our children using all the resources available within the community.  We believe everyone has something to give and we believe education is everyone's business.

No teaching experience is necessary. Volunteers work under the direction of a staff member.  Training is available if required. Volunteers DO need a genuine interest in children and a willingness to commit time and energy to help young people learn.

The rewards of volunteering are many and include:
       * Satisfaction in actively participating in the enrichment of students' education.
       * Opportunities to share in the educational experiences of your children.
       * Opportunities to learn new skills.
       * Opportunities to share your own expertise with others as a teacher.

Volunteers are needed to provide dependable, weekly assistance in the classroom, as well as work on a short-term or "one-time" basis at home or school. Help is greatly appreciated in almost any area in which you may be interested. We are also looking to establish "partnerships" with individuals or businesses that will result in more and better learning opportunities for our students in the future.

If you are interested in volunteering, take the time to complete the following form, which lists some of the opportunities available in the system. This form is helpful to identify the interests, talents, and life experiences you are willing to share with our school children. All volunteers must also sign the volunteer confidentiality form. (Below) Return these to your classroom teacher. You will be contacted by: a classroom teacher, specialist or the volunteer coordinator to talk about your interest and the school’s needs – hopefully leading to an assignment and schedule.
